Type selection

Electric submersible pump has many kinds, and each kind can adapt to different operating condition. Only the user select a electric submersible pump that is suitable to his operating condition, can the maximum output be realized with minimum input, and the using life can be prolonged. The type selection of electric submersible pump as following:

I. Preparation before type selection:

•  To see whether the working environment can satisfy the operating condition of electric submersible pump.

•  To know about the parameters of well: maximum water yield, well depth, static water level, variable water level, well diameter, verticality of well wall.

•  Capacity of power source: the rated current of transformer or generator should exceed the one of electric submersible pump.

II. To rationally select the type and specification of electric submersible pump

1. Preliminary selection of flow.

In order to select the flow, it should consider from two aspects: one is water requirement, the other is water yield. Water requirement is used for production, living and irrigation, and can be decided according to actual demand. Water yield is the capacity of well output. After deciding water requirement and water yield, the following relationship can be used to select the pump flow:

Water requirement ≤ pump flow ≤ water yield

2. Selection of lift

That the lift of pump is selected with higher or lower will has great effect on the pump operation, if selected with lower, the pump will not give out water, if selected with higher, the pump will ascend to cause big mechanical abrasion and further to damage the diving pump.

The selection of lift as the following calculation:

H=(h1+h2)(1+r)

H: the selected lift

h1: variable water level of well(m)

h2: vertical height delivered water above the well

r: lift losing, normally 0.05-0.1
